NCOC session reflects on Muharram 2020 SOPs to avoid the second wave of Covid-19:

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) held a meeting Monday to mull over coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) ahead of the Muharram 2020 processions, in order to thwart the possibility of a second wave of infection.

According to the NCOC press release, a session of the federal body was held today under Federal President and Minister Asad Umar.

The statement stated that the session received input from interested officials on the issue of the reopening of various sectors. The minister of religious affairs said that the assistance of religious scholars is sought to develop a global strategy and SOP.

The federal minister and NCOC chairman said that in the event of a breach of safety guidelines, the number of cases can resume.

He went on to say that several sectors, which have been closed due to the pandemic, have been reopened, including tourism.

The minister said that the sectors that have been reopened must also implement the policy of tracking, monitoring and testing to stem the spread of the virus.

Umar stressed that the only way to ensure the safety and health of the public is rigorous testing.

Restaurants, salons, gyms and other businesses closed during the novel coronavirus will reopen in Pakistan from today, as it returns to normal after efforts to contain the pandemic have apparently paid off.

The NCOC announced Thursday that cinemas, theaters, gyms, public outlets and restaurants will reopen across the country from Monday, August 10, subject to the implementation of coronavirus and SOP safety guidelines.

Shopping centers and other businesses should remain open according to block times.
