Punjab ends Covid-19 blockade, notification issued:

Punjab lifted the blockade, allowing all sectors, with the exception of wedding halls and educational establishments, to operate under government-established security measures.



The Department of Primary and Secondary Health issued a notification following the decisions taken at the meeting of the National Coordination Committee on 6 August in which it was decided to lift the restrictions on all sectors on 10 August and resume educational activities from 15 September  2020.

"All sectors except Marriage / Marquees and Educational Institutions are authorized to operate from 10 August 2020 subject to the adoption of SOPs / guidelines".


Religious congregations will be authorized after approval by the relevant authorities according to health guidelines. Working hours and weekly leave have been carried over to the practice prior to Covid-19.

All types of public transport have also been authorized to operate under the SOPs.


On 6 August 2020, the Minister of Planning and Development Asad Umar announced that the government has decided to reopen restaurants, cafes, cinemas, parks and gyms from August 10 after a closure of almost five months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, he said, all schools and other educational institutions in the country will reopen on September 15, 2020.
