KP government says Peshawar BRT will operate for the public "in weeks" 2020:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister of Finance and Health, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, said Bus Rapid Transit Peshawar will be open to the public "in the next few weeks", both in August and September 2020.
The provincial minister said Thursday during the Geo News news program "Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath".
Reacting to a statement from Information Minister Shibli Faraz regarding the bus project, Jhagra said the federal minister was right when he said the project suffered from some problems, and that the same was pointed out by Prime Minister Mahmood. Khan.
On a television program, the Federal Information Minister had admitted that there were errors by the government in the project that could have been done better.
The finance minister said there is no government in the world that doesn't make mistakes, adding that it's wrong when people try to defend everything politically. "The project came under pressure when the six-month deadline was set," admitted Jhagra.
Describing the overall feasibility of the transport project, the finance minister said a mass transport project is the urgent need of a city like Peshawar with over 5 million inhabitants.
The BRT Peshawar project will cost Rs 70 billion, including exchange rates, the minister said, adding that debt repayment depends on the future value of the money, but the terms and conditions of the loan are not an issue.
"Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has acted very responsibly not only in the past five years as only 2% or less of its budget, which amounts to 10 billion rupees, is devoted to debt service," the minister said, adding that the government drafted the debt profile for the next 45 years.
Responding to a question, Jhagra said: "The project is almost complete as there are already numerous preliminary tests underway and it is only a matter of weeks when we will open it to the public in August or September 2020."
The mega project, launched in October 2017, was due to be completed in April 2018. This was the first deadline for the project that was not met. Subsequently, the provincial government gave several other deadlines, June 30, 2018 and then December 31, 2018 and March 23, 2019.
